Stained glass mountains & stars

I randomly saw a class advertised near our country place & a neighbour was also interested so we signed up. It was 9-3 & we’d finished stars by 10:30

Our table-mate made a second star, hers are the blue-green-white ones, ours are rainbow.

Neighbour & I drew out some quick google glass ideas that were a bit more ambitious. We were scrambling to get done at the end so solder is a bit wonky but I’m still quite pleased with mine.

Neighbour friend is really happy with her first glass experience too, I love her sun/moon creation.

Thanks friends! You really need a frame to work inside to keep things square but there wasn’t one so I just resigned myself to an organic edge. It’s mountains for my hippie man & he’s pretty organic, haha. He loves it!

These seem like an astonishing accomplishment for a one-day class! I’m so glad you all were able to get a second project done!

My dad was an amazing glass artist so I got lots of experience growing up. I think going into it with confidence makes a big difference. My neighbour friend had no experience but she took my tips & kept pace with me whilst our table mate was much slower. For her 2nd piece she made that awesome sun-moon multi-pieced number with curved bits that took a lot of grinding, foiling, & soldering. I was so impressed with her!

I totally agree about going in with confidence and it sounds like yours rubbed off on your neighbor!

Thinking about dad now… he did really beautiful work. These are early pieces, before he got into bevelling glass.
