Staying Cool but Feeling Festive Accordion Book

Man, it is hot! Too hot to be outdoors for very long! I am glad to have the opportunity to stay indoors in the A/C and play with my watercolors.

Here is another accordion book I made…not sure if it is done, but after decorating 14 panels, I am putting it away for a bit.

That is so pretty. I love the orange and pink together. It gives it a tropical feel. Very pretty flowers.

This is beautiful! Love the colors you chose and the flowers really are pretty! Your blob method sure works great for you! I fear mine would just end up looking like… well, a blob. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

It’s rather dreamy and seems simple at first. Then you notice all the layers and details and… well, no wonder you want to set it aside for a bit. BEAUTIFUL!

wow, that is definitely a work of art!
Do you draw & then paint, or paint first?
I should try a little something like this – it doesn’t look too overwhelming if I just do a couple of sections at a time~

The flowers are beautiful! Love all the doodles, too. It has a very tropical vibe. :hibiscus:

I randomly splash watercolor on one side, let it dry and then do the other. I then add more blobs and marks and when those dry, I draw with paint pens, micron, gellypen, etc. It is very relaxing…like doodling on colored paper! It doesn’t have to be all at once…I just pick add some things, go away, come back and add a bit more…my problem is stopping…I tend to be in the more is more category!

I love your type of flowers, they are really beautiful!!
Did you use gouache paint for the white accents? Or did you use a liquid that you can erase afterwards?

eta: okay it’s gellpen probably?

I used a Posca paint pen . I have a hard time using a gell pen over my watercolors if the paper has texture. The colors are actually gouache, which I think are more intense than my watercolors.

ah so you used gouache in combination with watercolours or only gouache? It’s been a while since I used gouache (like high school haha :D)

i absolutely love the color. its beautiful.

I started with my basic watercolors and added the gouache to intensify the areas that I was going to draw over.
