Steampunk Dome

I made this for @Tapestry in the “Light it up” swap. I had so much fun!

the dome/cloche is plastic, from Dollar Tree. Plastic means I can drill holes in it to add beads and things. The globe on the inside is attached to the outside knob, so you can turn it.

The flat copper strips are made for dollhouse electrical systems. Similar strips are used for stained glass.

I made the luggage in a class several years ago.

I made the hat specially for this.

Some fun accessories

Too fabulous, huh?

The microscope’s box was plain wood, so I added charms and a faux lock.

WOW! I was excited to see what people would come up with for the Light it Up swap. You took the prompt and ran with it in a really great direction. This is so clever and unique! Your handmade pieces fit in perfectly with all the other bits - I am so impressed by your suitcases! I really like your additions to the wooden microscope box, it looks much better with flair than it would have if left plain. There are so many different aspects to this and they all work really well together. What a great swap package!

I’m so thrilled this beauty has pride of place on my bookshelves. It’s perfect from top to bottom and those swivel suitcases are amazing. All the little props make it so fun and the outer details tie everything together. Thank you so much for swapping!

You can pull the suitcases apart; I stuck straight pins in because that made some kind of sense at the time. Remove the pins, and you’ll have more options to display them…

Wow!! This is amazing! Everything just works together so seamlessly, plus for me, it hits a few high notes: it’s a miniature and it’s steampunk… the microscope!!

Hot dang! This is so cool! You packed in just the right amount of awesome details - it’s a 360-degree marvel. That copper cage!

I have some Dollar Tree plastic “mason jar” ornaments that I haven’t yet been inspired to create with, but now that you point out the obviousness of being able to drill (or cut) into them I may find it easier to get inspired.

Your miniatures are always so amazing. Love the microscope, walking stick, suitcases… everything! The whole vibe is very cool, and it looks like it must have been so fun to put together.
