Is there a point in your crafting where you are so close to finished but the last bit is tedious?
I always stitch in my weaving as it secures the weft and stops it sliding. I also feel it gives a really pro finish.
But it’s sooo boring and makes my shoulders ache as I have to hold the loom in reverse and stitch up in the air.
Pic to show what I mean.
I’m with you, I hate hemstitching. It does look nice though!
The last 20% of any project is where I fall off the map
Glad to see I am in good company…I have so many projects that are “this close” to be finished…why do we do this? The excitement of starting and working on the project quickly goes downhill as I approach the finish line…hope to motivate myself this year to get some of these WIPs FINISHED or let go…
@HelenR-H Such a lovely weaving…it looks tedious, but also very nice finish!
This is less of an issue for me in crafting than it is in home improvement. A few weeks ago I chose “FINISH” as my word of the year for 2025. I hope to use that to motivate me to do the last little bit a several home-improvement projects or to use the already-purchased stuff to do what should/could be a quick thing (like replacing the control unit for our living room ceiling fan.
Thank you.
It does make a huge difference, so I do always hem.
With lot’s of huffing and puffing though.
That colorway is lovely and I’m sure the finished weave is gorgeous! I get bored easy so most of my crafts are a couple hours at most but I do struggle to finish if I tackle something more time intensive.
Ooh I do love an annual watch word/phrase. Ive not chosen one yet. I’ll give it some though. Two years ago I started doing this. That year I had “does it serve me?”
This was suggested by a life coach friend of mine. I used it with love and respect to others but it really helped me with boundries.
Last year was “let them!” With the idea that instead of being hurt and bothered by other people’s behaviours I just “let them” do them and simply managed my own expectations. This was also very freeing.
I may start a separate thread
This is my first year for a word/theme. We’ll see how it goes!
