When my husband and I married, he had 2 kids from his “practice” marriage and I had one from mine. I wanted another but he wasn’t as sure. Together we raised each other’s children, as our previous spouses made poor decisions about their relationships with the kids, so it began to feel less urgent to add another child to our family. We tried off and on for 9 years.
One weekend my hubby took our 2 boys camping. I’d been having some “lady issues”and I got it in my head that I needed to take a pregnancy test, just to rule it out. I was absolutely stunned when it was positive!
So my daughter and I immediately went shopping, I bought a onesie and gift wrapped it for my husband.
It turned out that he’d had a great time with our boys, but was a bit sad to see how fast they were growing up. He decided we should have a conversation about trying in earnest for another kiddo.
I love all your family ATC’s, such heartwarming stories every time. But this is one of the best so far!
I’m trying to picture your husband’s face when he received this gift, he must have been so surprised. How amazing that he was thinking about having another child just as you were taking the test at home. Sounds like it was meant to be this way.
Could not have picked a more perfect story for Father’s Day! What a sweet card. I’d love to see your whole archive sometime. What a gift you are giving your family by making these.
