Sweet 70s Crepes

Crepes were very popular in the US in the 1970s, they had whole cookbooks of them

So I thought I’d give them a try. I followed this small batch recipe and they were super easy. My crepe pan (that I was given as a gift over a decade ago & never used until now) is 8" inches & this made 4 crepes.

I filled these with a basil seed blueberry jam (thaw some wild blueberries, add a tsp of basil seeds- kind of like chia seeds, let set til thickened.) and whipped cream in one

The other I filled with date peanutbutter caramel, (soak pitted dates in hot water, add cinnamon, a dash of salt, & a bit of peanut butter, blend until smooth) and whipped cream.

They were both good, my dad really loved the caramel one . They turned out so nice I may give savoury ones a try

We still cook a few recipes from a similar cookbook!

Your sweet crepes look yummy!

Our favorite savory crepes are pretty easy…asparagus, mushroom, and a can of condensed mushroom soup for the sauce. You can add ham or shrimp if you want it heartier.

Have fun exploring! and eating…

Oooo! Yummmmmm! Crepes are so delicious and yours sound like they were. It’s been awhile since my personal chef/husband has made crepes - he was making savory ones for dinner kind of regularly a few years back and your post has me wanting to make a request.
