Tatted bookmark and coaster set

For the Summer in Europe swap, I was paired with @Edel. One of the things on her wishlist was anything book-related, and since she also loves drinking tea, I decided to create a matching bookmark and coaster set for her.

The bookmark is made out of separate square motifs that are added to each other while tatting.

For the bookmark I used a regular shuttle and ball thread.

For the coaster I used two shuttles.

I found the perfect summer pattern on Pinterest. Flower in the middle, some leaves around it and butterflies circling around the flower.

I finished both pieces by weaving in the ends and by giving them a glue bath.

It’s really gorgeous, tatting kinda breaks my brain, but it’s so delicate and pretty

Soo pretty.

And a tatting ‘how to’ would be cool

Thank you for the kind words!

It’s actually not that hard. Although it has a bit of a learning curve. Once you know how to correctly hold your thread and shuttle then it’s quite easy to make simpler designs.

There are great tutorials on YouTube but the best way to learn is by making something.

OMGosh! Tatting for the win! These are gorgeous!
