Sorry, 2021 seems so long ago & I can’t really remember what I did. I’m not much of a pattern follower, more just make it up as I go.
Crochet is pretty forgiving tho, if you noodle around a bit you’ll likely figure it out. Best of luck!

I find it helpful to take your words and make a little crochet chart…I am not sure if beginner’s might want a chart or not, @boys.over.flowers .
