Ah, more birds. And it is snowing today and will snow again on Sunday to Monday. And the previous snow is barely melted. I need the birds. We do have a lot of birds hopping around the edges of our garden where the snow has melted. And I saw a female cardinal today. Yay! But here is Mr. Cardinal.
Pileated woodpeckers are fascinating to me. I love catching a glimpse now and then. This is a modified paper piecing from https://www.etsy.com/listing/1891307058/pileated-woodpecker-fpp-backyard-birds. I ended up drafting my own pattern; I felt there were just too many tiny bits. This one has tiny bits too, just fewer. It was a challenge to my dyslexic challenged mind. Yesterday I ripped out more seams than I could count. But today I finished it up. It is a 10โ finished square.
Oh yes, there was cussing making the woodpecker. So many pieces and so many angles. Those angles really get me, and I tend to use as little fabric as possible. No cutting nice big chunks to insure all fits. I do the โoh that scrap looks big enoughโ method.
