The birds are coming, the birds are coming

Ah, more birds. And it is snowing today and will snow again on Sunday to Monday. And the previous snow is barely melted. I need the birds. We do have a lot of birds hopping around the edges of our garden where the snow has melted. And I saw a female cardinal today. Yay! But here is Mr. Cardinal.

Pileated woodpeckers are fascinating to me. I love catching a glimpse now and then. This is a modified paper piecing from https://www.etsy.com/listing/1891307058/pileated-woodpecker-fpp-backyard-birds. I ended up drafting my own pattern; I felt there were just too many tiny bits. This one has tiny bits too, just fewer. It was a challenge to my dyslexic challenged mind. Yesterday I ripped out more seams than I could count. But today I finished it up. It is a 10โ€ finished square.

The cardinal is so lovely, one of my favourite burds.
Holy shadoodle, the piecing on that pecker! Whoa, mindblown.

These are delightful! The cardinal is adorable and that pileated woodpecker! He looks like he may have required some cussing.

These are beautiful! Love the cardinal. And that woodpecker looks very complicated/intricate but great result!

Oh yes, there was cussing making the woodpecker. So many pieces and so many angles. Those angles really get me, and I tend to use as little fabric as possible. No cutting nice big chunks to insure all fits. I do the โ€œoh that scrap looks big enoughโ€ method.

But itโ€™s fun.

That method gets me in trouble in more than a few different crafts!
