I made this diorama for a library program/contest, where you would pick an article from the local paper and make a diorama out of it. Mine was about a “league of her own” type baseball team called the Parichy Bloomer Girls, sponsoring a Ladies Day. One of the pitchers was Gwen Wong, a Chinese-American. I happened to find a book about Chinese-American history in a little free library and used some of the book’s illustrations for the outside of the diorama. I took some liberties and made the baseball fans various activists and trailblazers.
