I LOVE Halloween and this year I wanted to improve on the affordable dollar store tombstones I used last year. I’ve seen lots of tutorials that used wood, but I opted to used heavy duty boxes that we had from a recent delivery.
Here’s what I came up to make them sturdier:
1.Cut out shapes to backup the existing styrofoam tombstones.
Great idea! I hate how those foam guys just end up flying away or knocked over so quickly so I stopped buying them. We get a lot of wind in fall. We do get rain too. Will these get rained on, and if so, do you think they can hold up?
I’m hoping they will since it’s mostly covered in duck tape and we rarely get any heavy rain here. I probably will run out and grab them if it does rain a lot, just to preserve them. I will have to find a spray to keep them waterproof.
Thanks! The great thing with the Gremlins is that I can keep them up after Halloween, dress them up as Christmas carolers in the movie. They double as Christmas decorations!
Well, not the kind that accumulates or stays for very long at all! It’s cold enough for the clouds to make it, but not cold enough on the ground - it’s like 40F today. But mid 60s predicted for the end of the week!
It gets really windy in my neighborhood, so I cut a few pieces of PVC pipe and fitted them to the backs of my tombstones with spray foam. Then I placed them over dowel rods that were staked into the ground. Never lost another tombstone!
