Tote bag from old curtain

About a million years ago I picked up this curtain in a thrift shop, because I love the fabric. There was a need for a new tote bag.

This is a free pattern from sewingtimes on YouTube, I love her stuff, is very clear and easy to follow, with no needless chatter.

Pocket on one side, three pockets on the other,

Leather handles

Lined with a green stripy fabric that I bought in Australia about 25 years ago!

I added three buttons that I got in a swap from deadster about a hundred years ago, but tbh I’m not sure if they go well, thoughts?

I made this bag last week, using the same pattern

This is cute! They both are, actually. The pink one is my fave tho and the buttons are perfect for the eclectic and fun style of it.

I like the mix of fabrics and agree that the buttons just add to the quirkiness!

Love the second bag as well…so cheerful with the touch of yellow.

They’re both awesome…but that kitten fabric   !

That kitten fabric is gorgeous isn’t it. From AliExpress would you believe and it’s really nice quality.

I just found this on AliExpress:

Yes, I restrained myself and only got the blue, but the red is very cute

I gave in and ordered some, plus the complimentary blue floral fabric. Pretty fabric is one of my weaknesses, along with paint :joy:.

Well you know, sometimes the quality you buy online is rubbish, but I can vouch for it being really nice and it’s about half the price compared with anything I can buy in a shop

I cannot believe that bag was originally a curtain. It is so funky and fun!

Love the striped Aussie fabric as well.

Aw thank you sweetie xx

Both bags are great and very well made.

I love the first fabric. It’s an old Kokka/Echino fabric from around 2005. They had so many great designs back then but unfortunately there wasn’t much room for them in my college student budget.

I don’t know that. I really love it, and I’ll check out their stuff
