A couple of year ago when I separated from my ex husband I ran into an unwanted “adventure” while moving out.
I found a place for me and my kids to live and arranged that I would move in mid-month. After that we wanted to go on a 10 day vacation as the kids had some time off. Turned out I couldn’t move in before we went on vacation and I went on that trip not knowing when I could. So I felt kind of homeless while I was on vacation. I then got the info that I could move in directly after I came back.
Thank god, that worked out ok.
BUT I didn’t have any furniture. All I owned at that point were two chairs, a sofa bed and a dresser.
So one night during our trip I sat together with my kids and we placed an enormous order at IKEA to have everything shipped to our new place shortly after we arrived. We camped on the floor the first couple of nights and assembled everything once it arrived.
After that I ended up with a truckload of cardboard. When I was cutting it to smaller pieces to get rid of it an especially large and sturdy piece caught my I and I knew what the large empty wall in my living room needed:

I covered the cardboard with those thin paper sheets that come in IKEA boxes to prevent scratches on boards. I painted everything and attached fairy lights to the back.
Around Christmas last year I thought it would be nice to hang some decoration from the branches but I didn’t know what.
Then last week I got this marvelous hoopla from @Tapestry in the spring to life swap and it immediately found its place
