Yep. Another ‘finish’ that was started because it was a Project Quilting week and my friend B took me to the quilt shop that had the fabric I thought I loved and it was yelling at me from the shelf. Actually, I think it is more like the sirens that lured sailors in days of old.
Come.
Look at me.
You know you want it.
Oh look. I have a layer cake with every fabric so you don’t even have to pick one.
You can make this fit the theme.
It is only Friday. You still have time.
Ayup. After calling out to my friend B that I hated her (yes. apparently everyone on in the shop heard me. Yes. Everyone thought I was rudest person ever. Yes. B laughed hysterically and didn’t bother to explain.)
Bought the border and the binding and thought I would do a sashing between the blocks. But it was Friday. The deadline is Sunday. I went for easy.
The more I worked with it, the more I hated it. I don’t do brown as a general rule. Some of the prints seemed more and more awful. But I persisted. After all, I just spent a boat load on fabric I didn’t need for a quilt that had no purpose. But the Wild Country ear worm that accompanied my stitching eventually convinced me that this would be perfect on one of the beds in our little mountain cabin. And the Mr Loved it. He loved it so much that he took it to the long arm shop all by himself, picked out the quilting and the thread and is getting it finished!
I had to go back for the backing… with my friend B. Yes. They remembered us. Yes it was just as you might imagine. But since I had the top pieced and the binding cut, ironed and rolled, I was laughing along with the rest of them.
I really love it, and it would be especially perfect for a mountain cabin!

I do not like the color brown for many things, but for this quilt and pattern, it seems perfect! The prints are cute and it will be practical in a cabin!
Perfect cabin quilt and it came out cute. Your story made me laugh. There are definitely fabrics that try to lure me in with their siren call, even though I have zero things to do with them.
Thank you, everyone. I am happy to report that it is back from the longarm and it is actually quite nice. The Mr did a great job figuring out the quilting pattern and the thread color. The ladies at the shop apparently loved him. I will stitch the binding on and then the Mr will do the hand sewing because that is what he does.
You know you are loved when he volunteers to do the cutting, tells you to buy the fabric and hand stitches your bindings.
I don’t usually go for browns either, but there is enough white to balance this out. I think the color helps it look even more cozy. The fabric is cute and would be perfect for a cabin.
