Unwritten Scrap Puzzle Bag

Another bag from the Making Zen 2025 workshops. This is called a puzzle bag because the construction is like putting together a puzzle. You have to get the folds right to make a little square basket.

Closed up with drawstring.

I used 8 different scraps of kimono fabric. Since kimono fabric can be thin, I used lightweight interfacing between the layers.

Bottom showing 4 of the outside fabrics.

Outside with flaps from inside the bag. Four different fabrics, including some metallic obi fabric.

I learned how to do the worm stitch as well. Another name for it is called the double cast drizzle stitch.

I am going to add this bag pattern to my collection. I really enjoyed making it.

So pretty and precise! It is puzzling to try to figure out from looking, even.

It’s soooooo pretty! Your execution is flawless.

I really wanted to make that one but ran out of time and only got to watch half the tutorial and her download is a bit light on instructions. Still, I subscribed to her newsletter as I’m sure she has other patterns just as gorgeous!

She only included the drawing in her instructions! It certainly was a puzzle for me but I spent time looking at all the posts and figured it out. It is not a fast project for sure. I needed something to slow my brain down.
