Upcycled ornament

I made a Christmas ornament for my partner @endymion in the Trash to Treasure swap. I had a scrap from a window screen (I hold onto some straaaaange things sometimes) and I cross-stitched a fancy heart on it. I have some acrylic ornament blanks on one of which I mounted my completed cross stitch.

But the edges looked kind of raw. So I finger- crocheted a trim using the same red from the heart, and some gold. (It’s the only crochet I know how to do!) I added a loop and it was ready to send!

Thanks for looking!

Just so clever! I have a bunch of old screens in our shed waiting for the annual recycle…I will put ONE aside to try this. I think you just gave me a great idea for a small stocking stuffer for my family! I love your finish as well. You know I am a fan of the crochet frames!

It’s so sweet! Theatheart is a perfect pattern for this project. I also have a stash of window screen for projects, but have yet to find the right cross stitch project for mine. Hmmmmm.

I am the lucky owner! It’s such a cool and unique ornament. The cross-stitching is really tiny, and the finger-crochet edging is pretty. Thanks again!
