Vintage Snowmen Ornaments

I made these for the small batch ornament swap. They’re layered paper in a painted frame using a vintage Christmas graphic from the 70s.

Process details:
I bought a 10-pack of 70s vintage Christmas images from an Etsy seller and then seperated it into layers for cutting. There were 11 pieces total, not counting the background.

I didn’t like the color of the background, so I brightened it up a bit with some paint. Next I started gluing down sections, adding foam and layering paper to add height and dimension before gluing the whole thing together.

For the frames, I found a six-pack of plain wood circular frames. I removed the backs, hardware, and twine hangers and put them asside for some future project. Then I painted them blue.

I cut some patterned paper the same size as the frames to serve as a new back and then glued the finished snowmen in place.

The frames looked a bit plain still so I painted some acrylic bows the same color as the snowman background and added those.

These are adorable! I love how you zhuzzhed up the images and really made them your own with the layering and the background.

The layering is really nice!

Those frames really fit your project well.

I feel so damn old knowing that the 70’s are considered vintage…

Hah, thank you!

To be fair, that style is more 50s, but the other images in the pack I bought are definitely 70s.
