Visibly Mended Jeans

My husband is hard on his clothes (I mean, so am I and so are our children, so I can’t really complain). I mend as much as I can…but these jeans were getting holey, so some drastic measures needed to be taken. They got Grogu in the knee, and a bunch of very vividly colored needle woven embroidery patches. I got a small mending loom that was supposed to make the needle-weaving easier, but honestly it turned out that doing it freehand was much faster and less frustrating. They are now wearable again, at least for a little while. I thought he might only wear them around the house, but he wore them to work (at a school) and the kids liked them. As a bonus, it also led to a discussion on re-using things and how to mend.

Very cool! The many, many patch jobs I’ve done on my husband’s work pants are nowhere near as neat.

The knee patch is so adorable! A fun way to mend, for sure!

I squeed at the Grogu! Perfect placement for him. I lost my way with Star Wars- used to be a huge fan but now there is so many shows and movies to catch up on, it’s dizzying :face_with_crossed_out_eyes: But little Grogu always makes me tickled.

There is a lot of Star Wars. And my kids insisted on watching every single everything, in chronological story order….and then the studio released more. It is so hard to keep up. We just saw the new Mando and Grogu movie in the theater though, and it was my youngest’s first movie theater experience. So we are all about Grogu at the moment. (Can’t say I loved the movie, but it was still a fun experience. I do love a lot of Star Wars, but there are some shows and movies that are better than others.)

What a good mama! I can not imagine myself ever doing the same and not losing all my hair in the process  but agreed. Always room for Grogu.

The mends look so cool and I love hearing that the kids thought so, too, and that your husband turned this into a teaching moment for sustainability. I think these lessons that come from lived experiences and just a part of daily life can help the more “official” lessons sink in.
