Water-damaged rocking chair un-artified

A neighbor gave me this sweet oak veneer rocking chair that was a great size for me (my feet almost never touch the ground in chairs!) but the seat was water-damaged and had some loose veneer. I started picking at it and it peeled off in satisfying big pieces so I kept going to try to find solid, unstained wood. Whoops! I got to the center! Off to the store to buy a thin piece of plywood, the community woodshop tool library to cut it, the art supply thrift store for foam and Goodwill for fabric. Scraped off some of the kid-painting but left the happy clouds. Some batting I already had and some staples and it’s back in business!
