Watercolor Landscape 02

Yes. It is supposed to be lower ground in the distance (maybe a valley) with ground mist.
Thanks for the message at my previous painting!

Question for other watercolor artists: I think the colors in the sky might be a bit too bright.
I think if I do a sky like this again, I might mix a bit of a neutral color (like paynes grey) through all the colors I use in the sky. What are you thoughts on it?

I like it as is. Your colors blend well. They are delicate, like the mist. Skies actually look like that sometimes.

I painted the sky wet in wet, with very diluted colors. It’s just the brightness of the colors. But then again, skies do sometimes look like that, I guess.

Skies do all sorts of crazy colors, so it doesn’t look too bright to me. I think that is totally up to you. Also, I think it looks very subtle against the richness of the foreground color.

Here’s a real pic I took of the sky recently with bright colors, for an example:

Also, Payne’s Gray would give you a darker, blue-ish tint. Just use more water to dilute the colors if you want them to be more muted.

Gorgeous! I just want to go sit there with a cup of coffee and stare out into the mist. You’re really taking to watercolor!

@kayrun, I don’t want to sound like a famous sports brand, but β€˜just do it’!
The worst thing that can happen is that you don’t like the end result.
But nothing will be lost, because that is how you learn.
You find out what works and what doesn’t work.
(And you can always cut out sections of the painting and use them as a background for more layers of paint, or colored pencils, or metallic markers, etc.)

Like in this painting I used the sharp corner of a cut up plastic card (credit card size) and scratched the grasses in the foreground into the wet paint. But I did that way too evenly, like I distributed them almost symmetrically along the front of the painting. That’s not what I intended to do. And some of them showed the white of the paper, so I did another green wash over them, to make them stand out less. It’s this kind of experimenting that will help me in future attempts.
