Watercolor painting(s) for our New Year cards

I painted two designs for our New Year cards, with watercolor paint.
I used a masking pen.
Their sizes are 27x18cm, the same height/width-ratio as the cards will be (15x10cm).
It’s hard to scan watercolor paintings, so I spent quite some time with photo editing software to make the pictures look like the original paintings.

This is the one I’m going to use:

And this is the other one I made:

I hope you like them.

I can see why you decided on the first one…the jaunty angle of the numbers feels more celebratory, somehow. :tada:

It’s funny, I was just checking out a masking pen in the store yesterday, and seeing these makes me wish I had bought it!

These are so vibrant and fun! I agree about the angles of the numbers- the first card looks like it’s having more fun!

Thank you, @wittychild, @TheMistressT and @Bunny1kenobi !

Yes, I like the first one best because of the ‘dancing’ numbers, but also because of the lighter blue around the numbers. I aimed for the same effect in the other one, that I painted first, but there my darker blues bled into it.

Love the colors and overall look!

I love that every single one of us agrees that the dancing numbers feel more festive! That really shows what a small change in composition can do in artwork. Both paintings look very good, but one really screams party!!! and the other one is the grown-up in the room.

Are there flecks of gold in the lower painting?

Thank you very much, @Tapestry and @Immaculata !

No, no flecks of gold. Drips of blue paint that I tried to remove, lol.
