Watson's Tin Box

In the Sherlock Holmes story “The Adventure of Thor Bridge” Watson mentioned that he had kept a tin box of evidence from the cases he helped Holmes to solve, and someone asked me to create a version of that box. This was a very fun request - not least of all because it was just as much about Watson this time as it was about Holmes. While I did make a few miniature items, such as the medical bag and the Gladstone bag with the toothbrushes and pistol, for the most part I tried to make little items that Watson might have saved from their adventures - a fishing lure from their trip in “Shoscombe Old Place,” the voodoo doll from “Wisteria Lodge,” Watson’s brother’s pocket watch from “Sign of Four,” a racing form from “Silver Blaze,” a ticket stub, a “Dancing Men” cipher, etc. I had an old wallet that I put the paper clues in, just to make it seem more realistic. It was also kinda nice to take a break with something a bit simpler - the most complicated part of this one was just combing through the canon for things to make.

It would be so much fun to comb through the bag as a Sherlock fan and figure everything out.

Such an original and cool idea!

Oh, man, my son would have gone nuts for that when he was in his Sherlock phase. I’ll bet it was fun to figure out which artifacts to include.
