Welted fingerless gloves

Many moons ago, before my kids were born, I worked in a yarn shop. As you can imagine I acquired some yarn when I worked there. One winter, over a decade ago, I decided to knit myself a matching hat/scarf/mitt set from some lovely midnight blue alpaca/wool yarn. I made the hat. I knit half the scarf. I got bored, shoved it in a bag and forgot about it. A move, two children, and more years than were reasonable later, I came across my abandoned project in the garage. I decided I might as well finish what I started. Did I finish the long neglected scarf? No, of course not. My daughter has been complaining about cold hands all week, so I knit a pair of one of my favorite fingerless glove patterns for her with some of the yarn instead. These are the welted fingerless glove pattern by churchmouse. I have knit dozens of pairs as gifts over the years. Honestly, for not knitting much in the past decade I was pretty pleased with how easy it was and how well they turned out. And my daughter likes them and has been wearing them since I finished (she won’t even relinquish them for blocking). I like that they keep the hands warm while still leaving fingers available to type and do stuff. One is slightly smaller than the other, because stress and knitting tension are a thing. I’m sure it would block out…but shed have to Take them off first. Far better that the yarn is being used than keeping it on a shelf. Maybe I’ll finally finish the scarf next.

Lovely! And too funny that she won’t take them off long enough for you to block them.

They turned out lovely! That pattern is a winner. It was the one I used to make my first fingerless gloves. I still love it and have made several pairs. No wonder your daughter loves them!

The fact that she won’t take them off…. It’s higher praise than any of us could offer!! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

That being said, I think they look great!
