What are the best materials to use for making mason jar lamps?

Hello Craft Lovers

I want to give my balcony a makeover. I don’t want to invest in expensive decoration pieces. I came across the idea of DIY Mason jar lamps and lanterns when looking for unique yet budget-friendly ways of decorating my balcony. Mason jar lamps and lanterns are a great way to bring life to any room, be it your living room, bedroom, or balcony. The best thing about them is that you can customize them per your tastes and preferences.
Making DIY Mason jar lamps is quite simple. All you need are some mason jars, your favorite craft supplies, and creativity. You can choose from various colors, patterns, embellishments, and more to give it a personal touch. Add your desired light source, and you have a beautiful mason jar lamp! These charming lamps can be made in various shapes and sizes. You could opt for a classic hanging lantern or a wall-mounted one to brighten your walls.
However, I am asking questions about the DIY Mason jar lamp ideas from expert crafters.

What sort of light sources can I use?

Can these lamps be used outside?

Are there any safety considerations to keep in mind when making them?

Where can I find coupons and discounts for supplies?

What are the best materials to use for making mason jar lamps?

Looking forward to your answers! Thank you in advance.

I wish I had some advice for you, but I would REALLY love to see your completed project!

Hello! Welcome to LC. I moved your question to the Lounge where it will probably get more traction. This thread is for Swap related information.
I hope you enjoy your visit and come back and show us what you’ve made!

I love using solar lights for outdoors. The inexpensive ones from Walmart or the dollar store last a season or two, and the stakes can be removed so you just drop the light into the jar. easy peasy!

welcome to Lettuce Craft!

Hello. I know a new member cannot access the Lounge. Thanks to everyone who PM’d me about this. LOL! A message has already been sent to @symakhan to let her know she needs to post more so that she can access this.
We can’t let it stay in the Swap thread, so I moved it to the correct place. Hopefully, she will see it soon. :green_heart:

I moved this out of the lounge, so @symakhan should be able to view all the helpful replies she gets from our community!

Hey Guys

Last week I asked this forum about crafting suggestions, and many of you gave me great advice. I also searched online and found a few blogs and guides that helped me develop ideas for my crafting project. I am sharing all the information I got in the hope that it can also help someone else.

  1. One of the most important things to consider when crafting is the type of lighting you’ll be using. Depending on what kind of project you’re working on, you may need natural light, LED light bulbs or even a specialised lighting system for intricate designs.

  2. Another important element to consider is the type of materials you want to use. Different materials can affect the look and feel of your project, so it’s important to choose wisely. Common crafting materials include wood, metal, fabric, paper, clay and plastics.

  3. Yes, safety is always a priority when crafting. Depending on the type of project you’re working on, you may need specialised equipment like eye protection, gloves or respirators. It’s also important to read and follow instructions carefully when using power tools, so that you don’t injure yourself or damage your materials.

  4. You can often find crafting supplies at discount stores such as Michaels and JoAnn’s, or search online for coupons. Additionally, many craft stores have their own loyalty programs that offer discounts to regular customers. Online retailers like Etsy and Amazon can also be great places to get deals on materials and tools. Some best deals I found are:
