Riverfest in Athlone!

Then we had the most wonderful, delicious, generous dinner & conversation with friends who live in an old converted school house & we left this hidden there on the way out.

Bunratty Castle in County Clare.

Yes, of course we rode that carousel! My pony was named Steve, lol.

The crane was gone by the time we passed by again after going to see the pigs.

Visitorโ€™s centre Newgrange in Donore, County Meath. On the way to a mind fritzing tour which included Knowth. We thought the tour was only for one of the mounds!

Thereโ€™s a replica tomb entrance in the centre.

It was positively MOBBED with people, omg. Very fun day.

Tried this place in Athlone but wow, too crowded.

So across the street at Edelโ€™s family reunion.

There is a story here, very sad.

The story relates to the famine, or as itโ€™s called in Irish An gorta mรณr (the great hunger) the wall that you see was built as a work programme for famine relief.

However, itโ€™s a spectacularly beautiful place.

Cliffs of Mohen, I wanted to leave a crane in this very special place but my gawd The WIND! It would have flown right out over ocean.

In the earth sheltered vendor village a fellow was hand wrapping wire name necklaces, he was an artist with it.

He was so charmed with the story of the cranes!

When I was there years ago I saw a woman nearly bowled right over by the wind which then satisfied itself with completely shredding the plastic poncho she was wearing right off of her.

Itโ€™s stunningly gorgeous here literally everywhere you go. I donโ€™t have a bad photograph, unless itโ€™s that one Edel took of my hair in the wind, lol. By end of day I looked like Haggrid!
Off to Dublin on the train this morning where Iโ€™ll abandon the last 3 cranes in special places, I have a list!

Excited but weโ€™re both so sad our visit with Edelโ€™s family is over. How do you even put it into words, when you meet a secret sister in this life? Itโ€™s hard to part.
