Wild Blueberries Watercolor

I pulled out some watercolor paints to work on the July postcard I needed to send for Camp Nerd Games this month. After doing the July card, I was still having fun, so I spent some time following a few tutorials by Andrea Nelson. This one was for some blueberries. I love how cheerful and encouraging she is as she guides you through things. I didn’t have any actual watercolor postcards in my stash, but my husband had some 6"x6" watercolor paper, so I went with that.

When I was done with her tutorial, I felt like my piece was still missing something, so I added some metallic gold details in a few of the empty berries, and to some of the leaves. I’m really pleased with how it came out after that addition.

I love her tutorials!

This was one of my favorites, too! You put your own lovely spin to it with the gold berries. Turned out so good!

This is very pretty!

And I love Andrea Nelson! “It’ll be ok”, I think she says it at least once in every tutorial.

Is that gold on the leaf? Love a good touch of metallic shine. I also like how some of the berries are left unpainted. Cool painting!

Before I read what you wrote, I was looking at the art and thinking that the gold accents were my favorite part. I really love the technique-mash-up of it all, how some berries are filled and some are blank, some leaves are detailed and others plain.
