My daughter was a Junior Farm Hand at Prairie Farm Park, which is a real small farm, in the middle of town, run by our Parks Department. They have goats, ducks, rabbits, pigs, sheep, cows, alpacas, ponies, donkeys, chickens, and koi, and throughout the season you can visit to pet the animals, attend story time, use the playground, go to night time Moo-vies, or attend a camp out.
On Friday they held a picnic to celebrate the end of the summer camp season, and I wanted to make a thank you for the camp director. I had 2 scraps of this fabric leftover from making a Big Brave Girl Farmyard Star Quilt, for our neighbor’s daughter. I knew I wanted to use them somehow, but the scale of the images and the fabric scrap sizes didn’t lend themselves to a zippered pouch, like I wanted. I dithered over what to do for too long. Gave up on the idea of making a gift, and put it aside. Then, Friday, about 45 minutes before we’d have to leave for the picnic, I realized I could make potholders! I grabbed a kit I had put together for a class I taught, and stole the pre-cut batting, Insul-brite, backing, and binding strips out of it. I sliced down the fabric to feature the cute little barns and animals the best I could, and quilted them with a simple X shape, and bound them. All told, they took 32 minutes, plus 2 more minutes to find a gift bag and tissue paper. This might be the fasted gift I’ve ever quilted. 
Thankfully the camp director loved them, and we made it to the picnic on time.
