Woven washcloths

After mostly weaving tea towels, I decided to go a bit smaller in physical size but larger in yarn size. These are made using 8/4 cotton yarn, each is a different pattern.

In hindsight, the blue should have been lighter as it blends too much with the purple.

Oh, I bet these do a wonderful job as washcloths and looking so nice while doing it. I could never get used to a crochet or knit washcloth, but these look like they would do the trick for me.

I almost didn’t make these because I feel the same about knit washcloths but I’m glad I did, they are more substantial.

What a great idea! I have a cricket loom, and I have been stuck with what to make other than scarves! Do you make a long strip, then cut them to washcloth size, and hem the cut edges?

That’s exactly what I did. Decide the width, allowing for shrinkage, weave, cut and sew.

Then, once I finally finish the scarf that is on my loom (or chuck it in the bin), I’m going to keep that at the top of the list as the next thing to try!

These are pretty and they look very well done. Personally, I like that shade of blue with the purple.
