Nice! Looking forward to seeing all your makes!
too cute!!
That’s not a sentence I was expecting!
I actually used some of the yarn inherited from my grandmother to make a hat “that looks like a pinecone” for my daughter for Christmas. (I should, um, post that…)
YES, you should!
Oh I’m really curious to see what that looks like!
These red and white scraps were too small for anything useful, and I just think egg warmers are cute. We have bunny-shaped felt ones for Easter that my grandma made in the 60s.
I have a cold so I spent most of the past two days feeling meh, but it does mean I’ve almost finished a pair of scrappy house socks. For the first time, I’ve combined a worsted weight wool yarn scrap with a traditional sock yarn, held double. It works surprisingly well. The colours match and the texture feels very similar. Also - double yarn = double stashbusting!
The red and white yarn is Drops Karisma and was nice to knit with, but not a weight I usually buy. It led me to digging through the yarn bin to find similar yarns for more house socks, but all I found was two half -used up balls so I had to get creative.
And here they are:
I don’t know how I managed to do it, but I only have a small yarn stash (my entire stash is one Ikea Kallax bin) and still I find matching scraps every time, no matter how many pairs of scrappy socks I knit. I think this may be the 6th scrappy pair in two years?
Very cute scrappy socks, @Immaculata!
Love the color combination! Scrappy socks are the best! What pattern is that? I have loads of small scraps but probably not enough to make full socks…this also looks like a quick knit!
It’s this one: Sweet Treats / DROPS 238-29 - Free knitting patterns by DROPS Design
It calls for two strands of Drops Fabel (which I also have in stash, but didn’t use). The pink is a single strand of worsted weight yarn and the brown yarn had no label but felt similar to Fabel. I used 4mm needles so it was a fast knit.
Really cute, and yay for destash!
I’m working on getting a little more destashing done for 2024, but I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself if I don’t complete my plans. So we’ll see. It’s all progress anyway
Everyone’s destashing efforts are great! I love all the scrappy house socks
This month has been a bit of a slump for me when I got sick at the beginning of the month and had to miss all festivities including Christmas. I’m feeling better now, but yeah that sucked.
Anyway, turning to the new year feels like starting on a fresh page. I’ve gotten more destashing done through the month, working on a few more random gift bags from scraps (not worth picturing, they’re not that spectacular).
I also finished this pillow cover from stash. Once I figure out what insert it goes with, I’ll add some simple ties in the back so it’s not gaping open.
I also started a sweater with a pattern I bought years ago but could never figure out. I’m adapting it to a construction style I am familiar with so I can make Something with it. Made with the same type of yarn as the pillow cover. I will definitely finish off most, if not all, of the greens, so will have to decide if I will finish this sweater in more of a scrappy style, or will buy an extra skein of yarn to finish this off with consistent colors…decisions, decisions.
Your knitting is so gorgeous! Sorry you got sick, glad to hear you’re feeling better now.
Both pieces are stunning! Sorry you had a bad month but I’m glad you’ve recovered now.
The 2025 thread is live!
I’ll post the January Themes tomorrow, but in the meantime - make yourselves at home.
This thread will remain active for another week or for anyone who has final 2024 projects to share, but most of the action is moving over here:

Also, the tiny flowers in that beautiful vase…just adorable!
Wow Jamie, so productive! Way to ring out the year.
What’s that basket pattern! It’s so baskety!
Thanks! I modified this basket pattern and used the basketweave stitch on the sides and crab stitch (reverse single crochet) on the top edge.
