2024 DeStash Along

I hope to finish my scrappy afghan this weekend. It’s not my favourite colour combination (white, beige, pink) but Mr. Imma suggested giving it to a family member for their birthday in February and now it’s a gift for someone, it’s much more enjoyable to work on.

I have some more acrylic yarn scraps that I need to figure out what to do with - two balls of black, bits of red and yellow and one ball of white. Not enough different colours for granny squares.

I planned a couple of sewing projects, I bought fabric for a dress this summer and I’m starting that one as soon as I’ve finished the sweater I’m working on right now. By the time that dress is done, it will be spring, so I’ve found a pattern and some scraps for a sleeveless summer blouse.

Did some virtual destashing today of my YouTube subscriptions so I’d stop seeing the channels I’m no longer interested in and see more of the ones I am currently. Current subscriptions are mainly watercolor focused (surprise I know).

Im doing electronic destashes too! My Pinterest was a mess! I had so many thing that i am just not interested in anymore (jewelry). I have also been unsubscribing or flagging spam for my email to help clean that up. I also went through my lists on Amazon. Goodreads will be my next challenge. Do i really want that book on my want to read list anymore?

ooh, excellent idea-- one of my year projects is reading things from my ridiculously huge physical TBR stack. Maybe the craft-related nonfiction should count as craft stash…

Packing up some of the nicer supplies to go to their new homes. These boxes are completely stuffed full.

I won yarn chicken!

By a relatively wide margin, but not if you’re adding the final row of crochet to a generous lap-sized blanket.

I’ll weave in the ends later. I used up 3 balls of (gifted) pink yarn that had been in my stash for a couple of years, 1,5 of beige and 1,5 of white. I used up all the pink, yay!! It’s not a colour combination I would ever pick for myself but it’s growing on me.

Next project:

Scrappy granny squares to add to an existing, 10-year old granny square blanket. Last year I used up all the big scraps to expand another blanket, now I’m using up all the small bits.

Congrats! And I think the color combo works!

I think the color combo is very pretty. I am not a pink fan so the neutrals really do tame it down! Nice job!

Ahh just finished knitting a summer top I meant to complete last year that is now blocking. It’s all one color and relatively simple so not really too exciting to take pictures.

But now my quandary is what to work on next. I have several large batches of yarn that are intended to be some sort of garment, but I’m feeling more of the urge to work on smaller projects to clean up the odds and ends in my yarn stash. Just trying to find a good project for it now…

I hit 10 projects a couple days ago. Some I’m not posting or taking pics of, but that I still count. I hope to finish one more and start another before the end of the weekend. EEP!

Woohoo! That’s a great milestone.

I on the other hand, have finished nothing so far this year. Oh well!

Good on you! I have only managed to use a smidge of puffy paint and a bitty bit of yellow felt for this “100th day of dance class” outfit:

.

But I do have a crochet project started.

My mom came over and helped me figure out a way to rearrange my craft room to get more space and fit in my new sewing machine. It looks like everything in the room will have to be moved. This means it is a perfect time to destash and get rid of a bunch of stuff. Wish I hadn’t recycled so many boxes now.

How come you always need what you just gave away or destashed? Life!
