2024 Reading Stats Journal Pages

For the past two years I’ve done a wrap-up of reading (and other) stats in a journal. (2022) (2023) So here we are again, with 2024!

I had no reading goal this year, beyond “don’t finish a book if you aren’t enjoying it” but still made it to 81 books. I started with a pack of witch stickers from Amazon and then added in other stuff from the sticker stash to fill in some of the gaps.

Apologies for how warm the photos came out - I tried to fix them with limited success.

Top: The Cover Page. For once it actually has a title on it.
Bottom: Monthly Stats. I mixed things up a little bit this year and recorded the number of pages read by month (line graph) as well as the number of pages for each book and the monthly average (bar graph). Looking at it now, I should write in the page totals instead of just relying on the Y axis.

Top: Pages Per Day. I did this on one page last year but wanted more breathing room around it for decorations this time around.
Bottom: Shelfie. The colors represent format. Coloring in without ink bleeding through to the other side of the page turned out to be a lot harder with crayola super tips than tombows.

Top: Books Read. Just a very long list.
Bottom: I had space, so I included a list of books I did not finish under the last part of my books read list. And while I had promised myself that I wasn’t going to do any reading challenges I found myself doing the alphabet challenge out of habit. Might as well acknowledge it.

Top: All sorts of stats
Bottom: Where I sourced my books from.

Book covers sorted by rating.

Top: Noteworthy Books. I’ve tried a book bracket in the past but am never really satisfied with the “winner” so instead I just threw some of the books that stick in my brain on this page. Also some sewing stats. I didn’t do as much sewing as usual in 2024 and anticipate that trend to continue this year so I need to figure out a better way of representing my year in crafts for 2025.
Bottom: Movies & Shows watched.

I really enjoying collecting these stats as the year goes on and doing a full round up at new years. I may want to add in a few more memory keeping style spreads, but for now it’s done.

This is my third year in this artist’s loft bullet journal from Michael’s and it’s starting to get a little chunky. I may have to go very minimal next year, with just washi and stickers instead of all the ripped paper to reduce some of the bulk.

The pages look wonderful and so fun! What a great way to track your year in books and movies. Naturally I was zooming in to read the lists and the cover spreads made me happy because I could quickly identify books. I think we have very similar reading tastes! If you ever want book recs for a particular theme or mood, hit me up in DMs. I’m off to add a few books to my TBR baded on your ratings!

This is a lot of work, and it really turned out cool!!

@Tapestry Hope you enjoy any you grab from my 2024 list. I’ve been on such a reading slump this month that I may need to hit you up for some recommendations (although my hold on The Martian just came in, so maybe that will jump start things again).

@TheMistressT Thank you! I need to start brainstorming some new layouts for next year. I’ve reused most of the same basic charts for a couple years now.

@MightyMitochondria Reading Journals are such a rabbit hole if you like watching process videos on youtube. I like to use mine as motivation to read more, on the principle that we prioritize what we track/measure.

@gozer I do my actual tracking on a spreadsheet that seems to gain more and more tabs each year. On the bright side I’m getting a lot better at using google sheets’ features these days.

@Bunny1kenobi It’s a great excuse to play with paper and stickers, while pretending I’m being productive.

This reading journal is glorious! This is what I strive for (okay, I’m not actually making any attempt, but if I did a reading journal, this is how I imagine it would be)! I especially like the bookshelf page as well as the book covers. Thank you for sharing your fun and creative journal pages!

@AudiobookLover Come on in, the water’s fine! (Seriously, give it a shot - it doesn’t have to be elaborate but just looking at all the numbers can really give you a sense of accomplishment.

@thanate Thank you! It has become my January tradition and a great craft to start the year with.
