2025 DeStash-Along

Love your shawl ladder, and I would love to have a space like that in which to work. AND WAIT….is that a disco ball plant holder?

You can definitely see the sparkle in the pictures, but I imagine it’s even more magical in person.

IMO, just the right amount of magic.

I managed to do zero destashing in January. I’m hoping February will be better.

I bought very little in the way of stash supplies in Jan. A multi-colored pack of vellum & a blank card/envelope pack, being pretty much it. But I did buy quite a few cutting dies, some adhesive. I have already used some of the cards, though! I’ve made a dozen projects so far this year, and except for the cake, they’ve been mostly or all stash!

Gah! I have so many scraps to sort out!
I may finally make some of the scrappy pot holders I’ve been thinking about!

I destashed fabric today, not by making things, but by rehoming to my sister who is trying her hand at having a craft show table later this year. Some of the fabrics were a wrench to give away but, as I still do not make fabric crafts/sew hardly a little, they are better served by moving to her house and seeking their full potential. I still have plenty to play with should the urge strike.

That’s an impressive amount of fabric for someone who doesn’t do fabric crafts  Hopefully your sister will be able to make a lot of cool things from your stash.

Right? One hobby is collecting supplies, a second hobby is actually making anything haha!

Check hardware stores for charcoal products. I used them in vintage purses and they worked well.

I did one big destash project in January (finished a dress out of leftover fabrics), but I haven’t posted it yet because I need to get a picture. Here’s February already, aaargh!

I finished one destash project, too. But, I have made good progress on another, and put some work into a couple WIPs.

A farewell trip to Jo-Ann’s added a bit of fabric to my stash, but that was February, not January. I made it a whole month without adding any stash.

This remodel is a total time-suck. I have managed to knit a little, here and there, but nothing else. Boo, not cool.

I did not buy any supplies in January, but I did get a small pile of scrap fabric from a coworker. So stash was unintentionally enhanced. I’m hoping to have them used up by the end of this month.

I don’t know how my craft-supply no-buy will weather a potential JoAnn closing. I don’t need much but the fact that my main supplier is closing may cause some panic buying.

Reading along! I’ve been working with my kiddo to declutter this year, but there’s a looong way to go. Several bags of randomness have been donated. The goal I want to reach by year’s end is having supplies organized. No buying something I’m sure I don’t have and then finding it! And. I have so many beads, y’all. I’m planning on giving a bunch to a friend after sorting. I’m not setting foot in any thrift stores, those are my kryptonite. As far as using stash-I haven’t made jewelry in forever and want to. Plus, I salvaged a set of vintage colored wooden blocks from my parent’s basement when it was being emptied. There’s robots in my future!

January, I got the entire stash unpacked, started a sweater with yarn I’ve had for 4 years, started a fabric applique project with scraps, painted a sign for the bike shop with acrylic paint and medium I already have AND used the old real estate signs that came with the building, and now I have scrapbooking paper from the stash spread out on the table for making some happy mail.

Pretty successful start to de-stashing. No new supplies bought so far.

My first destash project of February fits the theme of ‘fuzzy’ pretty well, I think. Another Musselburgh hat in sock yarn and silk mohair, the variegated mohair is Malabrigo, and it was lovely.

Beautiful pairing! It really looks very warm and cozy! The blue is striking!

Thanks! It is definitely warm. I was hoping the grey would temper the brightness of that blue mohair (Hobbii Friends, in case anyone is curious), but it’s still pretty bold. The Malabrigo, though, I’d love a sweater in that combo.
