Yay! It’s been a while since you played along. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
yay! I think I’m actually available Sat. – sending you a PM
Rats, I already have plans for Saturday. Next time!
Aaand I’ve got two pieces done, one is half way there.
This has been a lovely way to chill out. I’ll send in my Questionnaire when the third is done.
I just bought a set of metallic water colors that I’m dying to try. If I find some painting time next week I’m in!
That’s awesome. You really got into the groove!!!
And this swap is the perfect way to try them out! I can’t wait to see what you make!
I have sent my questionnaire in, thank you for organising the swap
I just had to calculate what 4x6 is in cm.
Relatable! I’ve ordered a quilt ruler in centimeters as I don’t naturally think in inches, so everything came out wonky if I needed to scale up or down when making pouches.
I have one ruler and one measuring tape that have both inches an centimeters. Those are extremely useful.
My plans changed and I can join in now
I never thought about the fact that we use the wrong measurement system here! Or separate of other countries at least. 4"x6" and 5"x7" are standard photo frame sizes here. What are standard sizes there?
I have the mm for ATCs taped to my monitor. My company used the metric system for everything.
I picked my subject matter for this swap. I wanted something Spring/Summer related.
We use a weird combination of metric and imperial measurements at my work - measure in grams but also calculate for lbs/gallon. . .
I know ATCs in mm because card sleeves are sold using mm measurements
10x15 and 13x18 are standard photo frame sizes here. In inches that would be 3.9x5.9 and 5.1x7.1
I guess most frames won’t fit so tightly that they wouldn’t work for both measurements.
I’ve got one piece almost done!
I sketched out my first piece to work on tomorrow morning. I also have a fun idea for the second one.
I live in Germany working for a US Company, so both systems are used regularly. If it’s just length measurements it’s ok. But it gets really confusing when you go into units for pressure and such.
Yeah, and I live in the UK, so we have never really got rid of imperial units, for example we measure distances in miles, and I weighed myself in stones and pounds till very recently.
But I was taught centimetres at school, so that’s what I think in for smaller dimensions like crafts, measuring furniture, etc.
And as well as the standard sizes @Silky_Bee mentioned, you’ll also see stuff sized for A series paper, particularly in IKEA, so A4 is 8.3" by 11.7", which is our standard paper.
None of this is a criticism, by the way, I just find it interesting.
