50 Projects for 2026! Set your goal to reach your goal!

I enjoy the process, too. The “during” is often my happy place. But, still I can’t get excited about the during for something that doesn’t have a specific home for the most part. The thank you cards I have made, just because languish in my stash, because I’m not excited about sending them to from me or to whomever I am thanking. I also can’t usually bring myself to make a gift that isn’t very specific in some way or other to the recipient. Like, I think I’d enjoy making a bunch of some things, but I don’t then want to try to dig in my supply find one close-enough for someone when an occasion arises nor to I think anyone on my list is lacking for these things. That said, I’m not especially looking to change this about myself. Mostly I don’t even think about not having a go-to.

I have trouble sometimes with crafts with no purpose. Now, more so, if I want to knit but have no projects in mind, I try to knit for charities or something like that.

Just finished my legwarmers, and wore them to work today! I will be adding another pair to my to-do list because I can tell that these are going to get a lot of use

Slight mod to the pattern (Staghorn leg warmers), I made the top cuff folded over so I could add laces to tie them snugly to my knees. I tried wearing these without the laces to see if they’d stay up on their own and predictably they did not, so I’m glad I added the channel.

They look great! Good idea about the channel. Mine stay up only if I have them over tights but not on bare legs.

Even though I have a lot of supplies, it seems that I’m always missing one part needed for a craft. By the time I get it, I want to move on to something else. It’s irritating to me.

I am making progress with several projects: bookmarks, geocaching stuff, a card, and tidying my craft room.

I would like to ready my desk for St Patrick’s Day cards.

Week 8: Many of us craft something for the holidays/special event, whether it is a special card, a home decor item, or a gift. What holiday/special event (if any), will you be working on during March and what do you want to make? (1 pt)

My brother was born on St. Patrick’s Day. We used to laugh when we were younger that he hardly could be mistaken for Irish (we are Japanese/white mix). However, a DNA test showed that our father was part Irish, not English as we had been told all our lives. So now, my weirdo brother goes out to Irish pubs on his birthday to celebrate much to the confusion of the patrons!

I thought I would try to think of some sort of weird gift for him, maybe a painting of him but with reddish hair, wearing a green shirt (his least favorite color).

I also want to do some Easter cards!

Week 7 - I’ve given some real thought to this one. I didn’t have an immediate answer, but over time an answer did come to me. I tend to work on digital stuff when I want to just get going on something. I use Silhouette Studio for pretty much all of my digital creating. A lot of times I’ll have an idea in my head for various Quiltalong stickers and these are often what I’ll work on. Any time I think it’ll just take a minute, I am always mistaken. If Silhouette Studio is involved, odds are good that I’ll be at it for hours.

The last time I created a digital item was when I made stickers for the Galentine’s Day swap, so at the end of January. Though, I admit that I have been messing around with the AI earlier today to try and recreate a few more of my heart bookshelves as stickers. As was the case with the last one I made, the AI gave me a good starting point, but I’ll have to go in and make some edits with my trusty Silhouette Studio. As for supplies, I stocked up after my last sticker batch. I don’t actually need any supplies for the digital work, but I do use physical supplies for when I turn that digital work into a physical product - in this case - printable vinyl. I picked up a new brand and hope it works just as well as the brand I typically use!

I picked up a rabbit/easter nutcracker blank at a serious discount sometime last summer and I am determined to have it reconfigured and finished by the beginning of April this year. Because I have a friend with a birthday in mid-April, I decided to work on her gift first and it is probably about 75-80% done. Then I can go crazy on this nutcracker! The post of my Krampus nutcracker from a few years ago recently got some attention again and I’m all inspired to go to town on this rabbit!

4 more days of February, gonna try to finish my Kidlet sweater while i’m snowed in anyway. It’s tough because I think, “I’m snowed in, there’ll be oodles of free time!”
Then I remember that I’m the mom who doesn’t exactly have oodles of free time no matter where we are! Lol

Story of my life, well at least my current life .

Slow going but I did manage a little sewing project for February.

Back:

The inside has a little pocket . I ended up hand sewing the white ric-rac trim on because little things like this are just too fiddly for me anymore!

This is for my two year old great niece.

I enjoy making cards for Halloween, Valentine’s, and St Patty’s. I have made them for Thanksgiving before as well.

I didn’t have an answer for this at first, because my mind translated “go-to project” to “something you can finish quickly”. :woman_facepalming: I can’t believe I missed the obvious: it’s cross-stitch, absolutely. I’m not a fast stitcher by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s something I pick up nearly every day. If I don’t put at least a few stitches into one of my current WIPs, the world feels off-kilter somehow. It’s my comfort activity!

I would like to try and pull together an Easter card for a special someone, if my Silhouette will let me. It’s been a bit temperamental lately. Otherwise, I’ve always got an eye toward Christmas.

Week 8 - I’ve started a quick cross-stitch project, some cards for Easter, from stash. I made a few cards last year that I finished too late to send in time, so I’ll be sending those first. I come from a religious family and Easter was the biggest holiday of the year, bigger than Christmas, but as the older generation is dying, it’s not as big anymore. It is still one of my favourite holidays because it’s the end of a long winter, the sun is shining again and fresh foods are returning to our plates. As a kid, Easter meant wearing the new summer clothes for the first time, I no longer buy a new outfit every year but I do put on something nice and summerish. Although some years it’s still really cold here during Easter! ETA: I suddenly realize that I’m not going to buy an outfit for Easter this year, but I’m in the finishing stages of three garments. I should finish those in March to wear during Easter!

Week 8 - I’ll be making a card for a March birthday. I’d love to make a pie for pi day, but I don’t want to eat a whole pie by myself again!

I don’t really do a ton of holiday crafting except sometimes at Christmas. Do the Olympics count ? I have an Olympics-themed project to finish in March.

I don’t really do much holiday crafting specifically, but definitely do more birthday gift crafting when the spirit moves me. I don’t have any gift crafting on my list at the moment.

The older I get the more I try to be conscious about bringing “things” into others lives and how much that is actually a gift or burden to do that. Maybe it’s a reflection on how much stuff is in my house where I wonder “why do I have this” that is affecting my thought process on gift giving. Also, there are a lot of older people in my life going through the process of down-sizing so I’m really thinking more about that as well as I get older.

I don’t really craft for holidays other than Christmas gifts but with the weather warming up I think I want to tackle an ongoing quilt project and maybe finish it. An acquaintance had a baby recently so perhaps I’ll finally have a recipient for this thing.

I will change the wording to “special event” and not “holiday”. Yes, it can be birthdays, anniversaries, births, kindness, and even the Olympics, @megwell !

THIS. And also this makes gift giving harder. Last year I asked the friends on my gift list if they would be willing to choose either birthday or Christmas and everyone was willing! Only one chose Christmas which made this year quite a bit more manageable, financially, horologically, logistically, and all the other -allies. It didn’t, however, help me much at all the the Spring Birthday Crush! Whether it is correct or not, I have leaned a little on handmade holiday items for those that decorate, because those get stored away for the season which feels like adding less to the overall stuff-ness. It’s also a little less like presuming to know exactly how someone would decorate their home for the rest of the time.

My friends and I started getting each other gifts that have a limited life, like maybe a special perfume, wine, restaurant gift card, etc. It is getting fun to think of ideas for each other. Most of travel but have been to the same places so we stopped buying souvenirs for each other, which we did when we were younger. The best gift for me, I think, is time…time spent together; someone picking up lunch on a busy day; a spa day together; movie tickets, etc.

Looks like most handmade things will be for me, charity, or younger relatives and friends!
