50 Projects for 2026! Set your goal to reach your goal!

I keep trying to find use-up-able ideas. Harder with all the dietary changes of midlife + different tastes + shipping, which all of mine are. And, like, I don’t know how many different ways I can tell people that scented things and skin things are likely to give me a migraine and/or a rash, but I still receive one most years. I wouldn’t dare give that kind of thing unless I knew exactly the right ones.

My ma likes to give the spa face masks, but they are of dubious quality most times. I have a collection of them in a drawer in my bathroom. My facial skin has its own problems and I don’t want to put just anything on it, you know? Maybe next time I will ask for a foot mask. My feet don’t really care, they just need moisture.

I like to think I get most skin products from natural health-type stores, but CeraVe does work with my skin which is nice since I can get it most places.

Yeah, I have my dermatologist recommended skincare set. I have said so. And still I get scented hand cream and body “butter”. from certain people. Which will not only probably give me a rash, but also a migraine or at least sinus issues. I’ve run out of people to pass these along to directly, so I don’t even open the packaging and donate where I can. These are usually stocking stuffer type gifts, so at least people aren’t having their “real” gifts to me immediately jettisoned. I just decided to stop feeling guilty about not even trying the products, because then they would have to be thrown out.

Week 9: Do you have a particular day that you like do your crafting? Why that day? (1 pt)

Even though I am “retired”, I still think in terms of weekends. I like getting household chores and shopping done during the week . Saturday seems to be the day I do a lot of crafting. Sunday is relaxing or spending time with friends or family. I do a bit of crafting almost every night, but it is something like crochet or cross stich just to keep my hands busy while watching tv.

I craft only on days that end in Y .

Something that requires a lot of space or setup (like gelli printing) I’ll often hold for the weekend, but otherwise I don’t really have a crafting schedule/routine.

I craft all the days, but I’m in sewing groups on Mondays / Tuesdays / Saturdays (not every week! Although 3 craft groups a week would be fun if I had the time) so on those days I have scheduled crafting time.

Sewing groups are very helpful for garment sewing because there’s informal accountability (no “homework” vibes but my friends are interested in my progress) and when I make mistakes I’m more likely to correct them rather than throw the project in a corner. Yesterday I unpicked a zipper twice, third time was perfect. I don’t have that kind of patience on my own.

I work during the week, so weekends are when I have time for big projects.

I don’t have a particular day. Everyday I try to do something anything but most days it’s more miss than hit.
Seasons of life and all that.

Those are gorgeous!

Not a particular day, bit I do prefer crafting in the late evening when the house is quiet and I’m the only one up.

I really just want to parrot @megwell’s answer, but…I do wind up doing at least some sort of crafty thing nearly every day. It might only be a few stitches in a WIP, but it’s rare that I don’t touch anything at all.

I’m not working for points, but I do like to answer the questions sometimes!

In general, I may do crafting on any day of the week and sometimes every day of the week - when I’m lucky. So far this year, though, my creative brain time has been focused a lot on moving my craft space. We have a 3-bedroom house. We had a guest room and a craft/book/auxiliary guest room. The first few years of TheMisterT’s WFH, he was set up at the dining table, but then moved to the little secretary dresser/desk in the guest room. Then last year I finally finished the giant wall bookcase in the other room (now the “library”) and he moved his office into there which left me with my materials being in one room and my workspace on that secretary. ANYWAY - we decided to get a cabinet bed for guests and have the library be the main guest space - it’s a much bigger room. Long story, long: my creative time and energy has been going to figuring out and implementing supplies storage, workspace, etc. in the old guest room/new craft lab while getting TheMisterT a desk, finding a cabinet bed, and so forth and carving out time to be creative here and there when I can. While all this is ultimately for the good of our family and exciting in its own way, it has been hard on me to have the obstacles to creating that I am not used to having, even as I acknowledge how lucky and privileged I have been and am to have this as a problem. I am hoping that once I am set up and as the days get longer, I will feel more inclined to go up to “the lab” after dinner - I’m generally way more alert and creative in the morning and early afternoon.

You can tell by the length of my reply to a simple question, that this is a big deal for me lately.

I think there will always be periods in our lives where our creative spirits have to take a back seat for what is happening in our lives. Hopefully, there will pockets of opportunity to do something creative, but if not, those times will pass and soon your creativity has to be dealt with in some way.

Honestly, everything you and others who have taken on home projects have thrown in your creativity into those projects in other ways that maybe you don’t see but we do. I think what you have done to make your home fit you better is very creative and loads of hard work!

Friday night has always been my most productive crafting evening. Nowhere to be the next morning, generally, and at least 12 hours before the “my weekend’s practically over and I still have so much to do” jitters kick in.

Week 8: I picked up a patriotic embroidery quilt kit to make for the semiquincentennial this year. Which means I have exactly four months as of yesterday. Considering how long it takes me to do most things, I really should start on it this month!

Week 9: Weekdays are my typical crafting days. LittleBookLover is in school and we also have a respite care worker that sometimes comes after school, so it gives me time to work on crafts. We often spend weekends together as a family, though if we aren’t spending the time together, then I will sometimes try to get in a bit of extra crafting time, though it often gets overruled by LittleBookLover.
