@Magpie I bet the cookie tin was a hit! I hope generations to come will always find a cookie tin sewing box a thing of nostalgia and joy!
@Tapestry I know you can’t post yet, but how lucky was I to see a sneak peek! It has been a while since you did a 3-D project so I am sure you were pleased!
@antbee I was hoping you picked that candle mat. I love felt projects. But, what I love most was that you got your little one involved in the project as well. The tiny mittens are so darn cute.
@wittychild I am finding that I love cross stitch more and more. Your cat was so nice. I find it hard to do larger projects but when I do, I am also happy with them. Well done!
@TheMistressT The Crackalope was a labor of love for sure. You impressed me with your details and using stuff from stash!
I’m really chuffed with my Thelma pullover. I realized recently that I’m wearing the last 3 sweaters (including Thelma - I’m wearing it today!) I made a lot more than the others I made in the years past, and I think I’m really honing in on what I want and like in the sweaters I’m making. It also comes as little surprise, that I tend to like the garments more when I’m using yarn that I specifically pick for the project, versus stashbusting.
I just got out the yarn (specifically bought) to start on my Sorrel sweater, and love the color choice so much (Malabrigo arroyo in colorway Marte). Very excited to see how this works up.
I’m happy I finished my Pie Fascinator project within two days without setting it down for a few weeks. It definitely helped that it was fairly easy, I already had most of the supplies, and I didn’t fret about messy stitching. I’m still amazed by it and myself, actually.

And, you made people laugh! What a fun project that was!
I am also impressed with your personalized cards to people.
Week 12 - I’m pretty pleased with my sophie blanket! I’m working on a rainbow blanket that isn’t nearly as complex, but hopefully I can finish it next quarter (I was going to try to finish it this quarter, but I keep getting distracted by other things).
Last night I finished the binding on a quilt I wanted to get finished this quarter and I’m quite pleased with the results. It still needs to washed and photographed but I think I can knock that off by the end of the month. I have another quilt top waiting in the wings to work on for the next quarter, so no rest for the wicked.
After finding a 2-shaft table loom and inkle loom on Facebook Marketplace recently, I thought joining our local weavers and handspinners guild would be an excellent way of starting the learning process. But my connections to the group haven’t been attending, so it’s time to take matters into my own hands!
In came YouTube and quickly discovering there were a few supplies that needed to be purchased (of course). Hallelujah that the Leclerc reeds being sold on the market today are still compatible with the old loom models though!
The order came in a couple of days ago and I’ve since managed to figure out how to read drafts and warp using an inkle, with tips like colour changes and choke ties. It was so relaxing!
While the colorways aren’t necessarily my favourite, buying the kits provided patterns and allowed me to save money on the yarn (which won’t hurt so badly if I mess up!).
I work 12 hours shifts and it’s my 3-day run starting tomorrow, so there won’t be any progress made until next week, but it’ll give me time to look into the next steps to come.

We have some fabulous weavers here. @cindy and @photjenn come to mind but there are quite a few more. I think a kit is a good idea for most new crafts. You get all the things you need and can learn your own tastes and what works and doesn’t work.
Surrrrrre. Whatever you say. It’s certainly not some kind of ancient code.

I’d highly recommend Acton Creative on YouTube, Chris has tons of helpful videos about every weaving related topic you can imagine and she loves helping people new to weaving.
Yes, thank you! I corrected the typo! Acton is actually one of the first channels I subscribed to on YouTube! I’m also searching for some grannies who have been doing this for 90 years…
