I finished a bunch of little toys for summer reading prizes and made another Mini Clark (this one was gifted to the animal shelter because the workers really liked the first Clark and didn’t win him at the shelter fundraiser 
).

Finally, I sewed things! The porch cushions were getting stained and dingy and Fabricland has a sale on outdoor fabrics right now. There were so many yummy colours and patterns! I went with a little @Edel flavour so even if our visits will be from afar this year, I’ll still feel her spirit when we’re chillin’ on the porch.
I had the itch to stitch for days but the machine I have at this house is not working so I was thwarted, so frustrating. My daughter has an older machine of mine that she said wasn’t working but when I took a look it was just a build up of dust! Like, a lot, lol. After cleaning, it worked beautifully.
I bought 2 pillow forms to cover but actually had enough fabric for 4. I had picked up some pink, white, and blue striped fabric and cording but underestimated how much I’d need so no piping but I did use the no-dog-ear technique and I am so happy with how they turned out. Super cheerful! The seat pads are next, there is a green palm leaf fabric I’ll get for that.

How fun! I hope to finally get some outdoor furniture for our new porch as well as for the back patio. Right now it is dangerously hot for any outside activities.

Gets rid of super pointy corners for a more square boxed look. Points are great for tassels but otherwise I trim them. Taper in 1/2" from one quarter the width of the seam. So for a 20" seam, you taper starting 5" from the corner. This blog post has good pics of the process.

Best tip ever!! I really dislike those empty pointy ears unless they are part of the design. I started doing this when you posted the method a while ago!

I worked for an interior designer for a minute, fresh out of school. She was a banana pancake nutter but she taught me this so it was worth it!

Finally got another project done (2, now). This time, a hat for my dad. I promised him a hat years ago. He has been adorable about it, texting his friends/workers sending pics of it, and chatting about it. Wholesome to hear, coming from construction guys, especially. My parents have always been huge supporters of my crafting/art, and act like everything is pure wizardry, so they are so fun to craft for (I have to do more of that).

This hat is gorgeous! It’s always nice to craft or talk about your crafts with people who are in awe of what you can do (and based on this hat, there’s good reason for that awe!) - it’s a nice confidence booster! I’m looking forward to seeing what you make next!

Never too late. I am working on the first half prize winners and hope to have them wrapped up by the end of the month.
Trying to think of fun stuff to motivate people the next few months, maybe Fall themed, and then the Winter season themed.
Any suggestions welcomed.

Things in general here have been challenging and completely non-conducive to crafting which is making me extra cranky lol so I finally just picked the yellow baby blanket yarns back up and am making the time happen when I can. I have 3 blankets to make this month and a fourth for November.

- Rag Hooking - First Project!
Last Saturday, I joined some of our Handweavers and Spinners Guild members on a day trip to attend a rag hooking workshop. It was a first for all of us and the gallery the event was held at was so quaint and had me feeling super inspired in terms of how to set up my future studio.
Rag hooking is HARD!! The canvas used was burlap and the hook seemed so tiny compared to the yarn. I restarted many times before successfully telling myself I can’t expect perfection on my first try (The instructor was a pro! EVERYTHING was even and gorgeous!). I still don’t have the technique down, especially when changing directions, but I’m overall pleased with the results and will have to dig out my burlap to give a new project a go. It might be fun to do out on the deck at the cottage…
It was supposed to be finished to look like a coaster, but I’ve decided to keep it in the hoop and hang it up in the craft room.
