A Prickly Pin Cushion

(I am not sure if this project belongs here or in functional crafts. It is machine sewn.)

I made a felt cactus pin cushion for a friend today. I think it turned out cute.

You thought right! very cute!

Did you use a pattern or just wing it?

Winged it! LoL

I’ve never made one of these before, but the materials were inexpensive so I could play around until I got it right. Fortunately, I didn’t have to play around too long.

Oh this is adorable! Every detail is perfect. Your cactus makes a darling pincushion.

I have been pondering possible uses for the tapered caps from mouthwash bottles, and now this idea springs up - a pot for small plants! Thanks for the inspiration!

It’s adorable! I don’t usually use a pincushion, but this is one I’d totally keep on my sewing table. great job making it look so realistic!

Here’s the tutorial that I followed-ish.

Rather than hand stitch the cactus, I machine stitched with a wide allowance and used my pinking shears.
