Again: Duckling 01 (colored pencils)

I drew the same duckling for a second time, with Polychromos colored pencils.
This time on (dark grey) Pastelmat paper. This paper has a better surface for this type of colored pencils. You can put on a lot of thin layers, to give the drawing depth.

I hope you like it.

It’s so fluffy! The fuzz begs to be petted, amazing illusion!

Thank you, @Manders, @wittychild and @Magpie !

It is not just the color of the Pastelmat paper, but more the structure of it, that allows you to put on a lot of thin layers, to gain more depth in your drawing.
This was the first time I used it.

I couldn’t see any problem with the first version, but now that you’ve posted this one, I can see the greater detail you were able to achieve on this new paper. Amazing!

Thank you very much, @MissingWillow, @photojenn and @endymion !

@photojenn, I love the Pastelmat paper combined with the Polychromos colored pencils!
It did take a lot of hours to build up this drawing, even though it’s only about 17cm high, but I love the result.
But if you look really well, you can see that erasing the grid lines that I used to make my realistic sketch (I’m not very good at free hand sketching) did not work well, even though I laid those lines down with pencil ever so gently. They left marks in the relief of the surface. But I guess you don’t really notice that unless you know what to look for.

What a gorgeous drawing and that paper makes such a difference. Flipping between the original and this version is so dramatic.
