Apple, drawing with colored pencils (I added progress pictures)

I drew this apple with Polychromos colored pencils.

I used lots and lots of thin layers of colored pencil, in many colors (from the lightest color to the darkest color I could see in the reference picture I took, and then back again to the lightest).
For the sketch I first drew horizontal and vertical grid lines.
I also saved the picture with grid lines (took a screen shot), to look at on my tablet while I was drawing. And then I looked at the picture without grid lines when I started the colors.
The paper was too smooth, so one day I might give it another try on paper with more ‘teeth’.
