Bookmark Making Adventures

This is my adventure in trying to make 2 bookmarks for the bookmark swap… lol… A tale of mishaps that ends well.

So, I started with watercolors and this part was fun…

But that middle one goes badly shortly after this pic was taken. Uh oh.

I added pastels over the watercolor, and made the brown/wood grain one the back of the green… Here’s how the green turned out. I sent this one to @jemimah for her natural, green, leafy themes. (I mailed this off without taking final pics, so I have only the one @jemimah posted.)

(I used stick-on laminate sheets.)

So, the one I started for @Bunny1kenobi was destroyed so it was back to the drawing board…

I started mixing her themes, with a teal skull brocade print, some metallic Sharpie, sequins… and then bad things happened again. The laminate sheet had to be cut too close (for reasons) and the two sides split apart! Oh my… So I trimmed it all the way, glued the two sides together, and just to make sure they stayed, I added some peach embroidery thread around the edge and added a bit of a tassel with beads just for fun…

And then I fretted over the beads making it through the mail because that’s just how things were going, but everything survived! Yay!!

What do you mean by anchor-embroidered thread?

I have done a lot of hand embroidery in my life but I don’t think I have ever intentionally hand embroidered a bookmark. I am absolutely certain that I have used one of my embroidered patches as a bookmark, though.

I am so glad you like it and so very glad it made it to you safely!!

They turned out great! The pastels over the watercolour gives it such gorgeous rich colours.

Here’s a picture of the wood grain side -

Thanks again @MamaRhi!
