Christmas Craftalong

Making progress on this piece of embroidery for me! I had a very good weekend. I’ve been tired and not very creative lately recently, but it seems summer is finally starting here. Now it’s not clouded or raining I figured out that what I missed was the sun! Lack of warmth and light is what made me feel so bad. I cleaned the house, did loads of laundry, baked, gardened both days, and in my breaks I stitched this up.

The vintage looking Christmas tile is so cute!

I also love that the summer sun is perfect to get you in the mood to make holiday stuff, @Immaculata ! Lovely pattern for the time!

I have decided that I need to start doing gifts (I was sneaking by being child but 25 seems less child and more not wanting to give gifts).

Aunts and Grandma and girlfriends: gift mixes and aprons or kitchen towel.
Uncles: 1 BBQ rub mix thingy. 1 dinner mix (thinking soup or making homemade pasta with my friends pasta maker) or might make a hot pepper oil. 2 sets of glasses with sports team on them (going to do a trail with contact paper as a stencil otherwise might just dip the bottom in copper or silver glass paint)
Dad: a brain hat (haven’t decided if I will do a zombie brain or normal brain maybe both shall see)
Brother: possibly brain hat but found cool chainmail type bracelet that I want to try making
Sister: Gift mix and apron with matching apron for my nephew. Might add in something else not sure
Nephew: Pillow case and get the stocking I started for him done
Cousins: Pillow cases. Might make a travel game like tic tac toe
Grandpas: 1 book sleeve. And might just buy the other ones flannels
Mom: An oversized tee from Ellie and Mac patterns

My friends are also on my list but I haven’t figured out what to make them yet. I have a quilt for one that is waiting to get quilted so I might get that done in time (my other two friends have already been gifted quilts). I might get my one friend things for making dice like glitter or something (he is just starting out and it might be nice also maybe socks cus he has really holey socks and that kills me).

Oh boy both lots to do and not that much! XD but I am excited to get started. The gift mixes are going to have cute bags to go into (the mix will be in a ziplock and then in the fabric bag I will make). The hat I plan on using my nifty knitter to make the hat base and then making a chain type thing to get the brain texture. Just need to pick up my nifty knitter from my parents.

I got the first holiday season issue of CrossStitcher the other day! There were some amazing autumn and Halloween patterns as well as the first Christmas patterns and I always love holiday stitching.

I got this little kit on sale last year, was probably less than €5, and I figured I would stitch this first to get back into embroidery because it’s all random fill stitch. No thinking, just filling in big areas.

Just a quick reminder…

Only 109 days until Christmas!

@AIMR suggested I include this project in the craftalong and it seemed like a good idea!

In the scavenger hunt swap, my partner @Cyn-energy sent tags with the goodies she sent. They are such pretty gold foil tags that I decided I needed to do something with them. I used some fun sparkly Christmas stickers to make gift tags.

I think this is a simple yet clever idea to use leftover stickers and tags from the previous years! They will be brand new and shiny for this year!

It would be a good way to repurpose the holiday season cards, too. Like you could cut the cards to the tag shape and foil over any writing on the original inside then use them for gift tags if you can write on the foil.

Or just cover the writing with card stock or Christmas-y paper. I have done that before as well.

I got ambitious and made all the little sacks for my gift mixes I will make closer to Christmas. A fat quarter made two of these. They are small so I’m hoping they fit the mixes.

Oooh exciting!! I love getting fun deliveries. Even when i’m the one who placed the ordered it still feels like Christmas. Lol

I’ve been working on Christmas decor more than gifts. I have bought some gifts and made a few things. I need to make a list and get serious about it I suppose.

I am waiting on fabric as well…to make new stockings for my cats! lol

Ok. For the record I have to admit that my first flash thought at reading this was not “stockings hung by the chimney with care.” I legit pictured leggings. On cats.

I need more sleep. Haha!!

100 days until Christmas. SO… less than that for any “countdown” calendar crafts maybe someone has been procrastinating… Not to name any (me, totally me) names…
