Well, I missed the USA mailing deadline for packages! I did get messages from my nieces that they received the Petite Fours I ordered for them.
We used to buy a box for my Mom each year starting when I was in high school. All of us would eat our favorite little cakes. Mine was red velvet. There is something about a tiny little cake that makes them taste better than they really are…lol.
Anyway, when my mom passed, I didn’t realize how much her two granddaughters (my nieces), missed them. They have had them since they were children.
I surprised them with a box three years ago and have continued the tradition. Now that they both have families of their own, they can remember their grandmother and tell their own children about her, and even about me.
But, I did not send the great nieces and nephews the money holders (crackers!). I am going to send them for New Year’s instead. Start the year off with a little cash is a good thing, right?
I really don’t have anything more to make for Christmas this year. I do have a list for next year going. Some baking, maybe for a few of our neighbors…
I am going to continue to purge, clean and organize my craft room to prepare for the new year!
What a thoughtful gesture! For many people, Christmas is the period of the year when we think about our departed loved ones more than usual. I’m sure the great nieces and nephews will appreciate a gift of cash any time of the year But in many countries, people give gifts for the New Year, so I don’t think it’s strange at all.
I finished this for my friend, she’s a sewist and also really into vintage so the needles were a great find.
I’m not really stressed about my Christmas crafting, if it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen. Giving gifts isn’t as big of a thing in my country as it seems to be in the US.
Sock 3 of 6 (really 4, we all know my pair aren’t happening until January haha) complete!
Now at least she can Punky Brewster it up on Christmas if i dont get that second one done in time.
Still need to paint some notebook covers…then I think I’m officially done? Cooking and baking not included…

wow–cute baskets…and that ear warmer will be a nice present as well…love the color!
All I managed today was to buy some seafood for our Christmas Eve dinner…purchased some things already prepared, like the artichoke and crab dip. Jim is making homemade clam chowder and brining some shrimp, which will be delicious by Saturday. Tomorrow I am picking up some baccala and stuffed calamari at the Gourmet market.
Can we start this craftalong in March? lol
Hope everyone is finishing up and ready for some fun and reflection!
My husband wore his socks to the work Christmas party today so it looks like they’ll see at least TWO wears this season that’s like 100% more wears than I expected! Haha
