Surprisingly they take me about 30 minutes per ornament, but fortunately because there are no colour changes with the thread I’m able to do other things while the machine is stitching away for a part of that time. I’ve got it set up in my kitchen at the moment
This has been my least crafty month in a long time. Not great timing for Christmas in July! But a while back I found this on sale in a local shop and I’m excited to start it tonight.
I, too, have been zero for crafting in general, nevermind for Christmas things! I had big dreams then had zero energy for it. We still have 9 days, maybe something will kick in.
This is a fun stitch so I’m motivated to stitch it. Maybe my current projects just weren’t enough fun. Stitching at night is also really healthy because it means you can’t snack!
I did actually buy two early Christmas gifts for Mr. Imma from the sales bin at a department store. Beer and ketchup bottle socks and Christmas themed boxers. They’re sort-of gag gifts - they’re intended as a joke but I know he’ll wear them until they wear out.
A long time ago I received a tiny keychain zipper pouch in a swap (maaaaybe from @Trillian ? ) and it’s starting to wear out. My craft room is kind of my DIY tools holding place right now, so I’m sofa stitching and can’t easily get to my sewing machine. But maybe I should make a whole batch of these, they’re very practical.
It’s attached to my house keys. I just realized that non-Dutch people may not have that many bike keys so it may not be useful for you guys
The key to the frame lock stays in the lock while you’re riding around, so you want to keep that key seperate from your other keys (if your keychain breaks you’d lose all your keys). So that’s why I keep it in the zipper pouch and take it out when needed. Then there’s the key to the second chain lock (bikes get stolen all the time). Plus the keys to the bike parking garage at work and the back alley at home.
The pattern is by Satsuma Street, called “Santa’s Flight”. I should have pre-washed my fabric…my white stitching looks a little blue after washing the finished piece (don’t look too closely!).
I think it looks amazing! Santa’s beard looks pretty white to me, and nobody will notice if any other white stitches are a bit discoloured. It’s a bummer about the fabric though. Is it hand-dyed? It does look really cool. Are you keeping this for you or is it a gift?
@Abbeeroad came up with the best idea in the Snapshot thread. I’m going to make a big folder of pictures from Christmases past and set them up as a slideshow on the TV during Christmas.
I believe that the fabric was hand dyed. Wittychild gift it to me with the pattern. I will know for next time to wash before use. It was purchase off 123Stitch.com. I was making it for my 2 year old grandson, but I can’t make up my mind.
Thank you very much. This fabric was chosen for that reason exactly. As we know the night sky is not one constant colour. Wittychild and I thought the suttle variation were perfect for a night sky.
The pattern is by Satsuma Street; perhaps unsurprisingly, it’s the fourth annual installment in their “12 Days of Christmas” series. (Calling birds, ha!) I’ve stitched the first three over the past three years, and I’m unduly proud of the fact that I’m not rushing to finish this in November. It’s stitched on 14-count perforated paper, and I glued the finished piece onto sparkly felt.
