Chunky Halloween Houses - Simple and Fun

I’ve been doing a lot of art classes online so I took advantage of all of my supplies being out all over my craft room to make the two chunky halloween houses this year.

The first one was for a cat theme.

I started with wooden arrows from the Dollar Tree. I used narrower ones that had to be cut down, but you get the drift. Then paint away!

The second was for a Nightmare Before Christmas theme. This was nearly a disaster because originally, I was just going to do Zero, the ghost dog in the story, but my partner had gotten a surprise package from the ever-talented @tapestry and it was way too similar to what I was doing, so I had to re-group and think how to “save” it.

I left the doghouse and added Jack Skellington , but he didn’t quite fit in the space. It occurred to me that I could make his arms moveable to make them fit. The arms are joined with the tiniest brads ever.

"Oh,no! What do I do? Wah-h-h-h!

“I know, just add me in!”

“Yay! It worked! My dog is floating around here somewhere!”

Thanks for looking! These were so fun this year. If you haven’t already, go check out the amazing gallery of Chunky Halloween Houses!

These are adorable! I’m partial to the kitty (of course), but love your pivot with Jack…and those poseable arms!

These are delightful!

Ooh! These are sooo adorable! I like the idea of your little mouse ghost trick-or-treater with the cat. Really cute. And I bet your Jack is even better than your original plan! I certainly love the moveable arms!

I love my kitty! It’s so cute. That’s cool to see the base of it. How did you cut it?

With a mini saw. You might notice that it is a teensy bit crooked…

I’m so sorry my painting detailed your gorgeous TNBC chunky house! But…I really love the Jack Skellington addition to the house and it feels like he was always meant to be there! Plus those moving hands are so cool!

I really love the design and look of your cat and mouse house as well! Lovely work on both.

Mini saw?? Like a hand saw or a tiny power saw?

It came with some ceiling curtain rods. Small hand saw. Once they got the rods put up, I snatched the saw. I guess it is meant to be disposable after you cut the brackets but it had a spare blade so I kept it!
