Pop Quiz: What do you guys think of a small version of the HP Holiday Swap?
I’ve been so distracted with the pregnancy this fall, that I didn’t set up our usual HP Holiday earlier. It normally includes 2 weeks of signups and 4 weeks of crafting, and up to 3 partners. TBH, that’s just too much for my brain to handle right now. But I know a lot of folks really love the swap, and love adding to their collection of ornaments. So… I’m thinking of signups today, through the 30th. Then Sendouts on December 14th. Hard deadline. No late sends! Because if anyone is late, their packages won’t arrive in time, with the holiday rush the postal service expects. So because of the shorter crafting time, I’m thinking just 1 partner per person.
If people are interested and want it, I’ll set it up today. If this feels too rushed and like not enough time, we’ll skip it for this year, no hard feelings.

Brief Description: my second year making gluten free Stollen. I have adjusted the recipe by adding more xantham gum to the gluten free flour, and letting it proof longer.
Waiting for the fruit to soak in the rum, waiting for the dough to proof, and finally waiting at least a week for the finished loaves to “ripen”, this is a lot of waiting.
(Loaves are currently wrapped up and sitting in the pantry shelf in the garage).

This cowl was knit using what is honestly the squishiest, smooshiest, softest yarn I’ve ever come across - it’s a cashmere, merino, alpaca blend, handdyed from a local artist. It’s a Christmas gift for a colleague who had been so lovely and welcoming in my new job that u wanted to say a special thank you to her. We share classes (I teach my specialist subjects, and she hers) so our kids know I’ve been making it and they are so excited for me to give it to her, it’s adorable

Organising circular needles is usual a hot topic of chat amongst knitters. Ideally they want to be sorted by both lenght and diameter, easy to get in and out, not getting tangled or too squashed up…
I’ve previously used these plastic wallets, which works OK but they are so ugly, and a bit fiddly.
I saw on twitter a knitter who used these photo storage boxes and couldn’t resist. I’ll admit that there’s no sorting by lenght, but they are so SO much prettier and that makes me happy! And not so squished up, even where I have several needles in a size. A bit improvement if you ask me!

Brief Description: A little late but no other challenge has been posted so I’m taking the chance!!! I’ve gone from a mother of one to a mother of two, if we don’t count the puppy that is. This year I decided to make them advent calendars and made 48 bags that fit the different sweet bags we bought. I also made the tags and then finished them off.

Project @MistressJennies moms orange and cranberry loaf. There were fresh cranberries in the shop so I took the opportunity to grab them and make this. It is delicious and the cranberries give it a lovely sharpness. The recipe is here, c&p from another thread
*Ok @Edel, my mum’s Cranberry Orange Bread. I have no idea where the recipe came from. She has it handwritten in a binder that she’s had since I was a kid. I have a handwritten copy I made of hers, when I moved out.
2 cups All Purpose flour 1 cup sugar (I usually use a scant cup, like 7/8 cup) 1.5 tsp baking powder 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp baking soda 1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted (mom always used margarine) 1 egg, beaten zest of 1 orange 3/4 cup orange juice* 1.5-2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries (chopped in half)
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Mix the wet ingredients in a medium bowl. Whisk together the dry ingredients, and add to wet ingredients. Fold in cranberries.
I made 20 pairs of earrings for a craft stall as a fundraiser for our cancer support centre. All sorts of designs and colours. Much like house unity, everyone is represented.
Just sliding in under the wire with this. Two friends and I are doing a jolabokaflod this year, we are giving one another books from our own library. to make them special I made these two fabric, reusable gift bags

Project Name & Page Link: Aunt Sukie’s Choice Quilt Blocks Brief Description: For the Quiltalong, I needed to make November’s Block of the Month, before December arrived. (Especially since I was the person to nominate the block!) I couldn’t decide which pile of quilt blocks I wanted to make this block for, but then I bumped into a fat quarter bundle of bee fabrics, I had bought to make something with for my aunt, about a year ago, then forgotten about. I used two of the bee fabrics from the bundle, and some white and soft red were both scraps in my stash. These will be turned into a table runner, with another of the bee fabrics as borders/sashing, one as backing, and one as binding. Project Picture:

I normally would needle felt them, but I thought I would give wet felting a go (it’s faster). My previous attempts with wet felting were less than stellar and it was a craft I tried a few times and never went back to. But, these worked out okay! Project Picture:
The Headmistress Challenge for December has been posted! We are going with the oldie-but-goodie, Hagrid’s 12 Christmas Trees again. These prompts may seem familiar to you, since we’ve used them in the past. That is intentional, as they were written to cover a wide range of holiday crafting and cooking, to help you fill in all the million little projects we crafters make during Christmas.
But this year Mistress Jennie is giving you a bonus gift. Each one of these prompts can also act as a ‘Free Space’ or ‘Crafters Choice’. That means if you have a project you crafted, that doesn’t fit any current prompt (Class, Book Club, Headmistress, etc.), you can use any of the 12 Trees prompts to submit it under. No questions asked. (Provided it fits LC’s concept of a craft or cooking project.) 30 minute minimum work still applies. You can do this with one prompt, or all 12.
Consider these prompts a jumping off point, but in the end, go with your heart, and craft what you love, for those you love.
