Crayon resist mermaid with water-based inks

I forgot to post about last week’s library program creation.

The theme was crayon resist. We drew something with crayon or oil pastels, then painted over it with water-based inks (the kind used for fountain pens, mixed with water to get the pigmentation we were after). I used crayon and blue and green ink.

I also did a Halloweeny one, but I’m not too happy with how that one turned out. I don’t intend on remaking this one as it’s not a favourite theme for me.

I really enjoyed working with the inks. I think I’m going to buy some to experiment with at home.

Nice work! Inks are fun. Haven’t bought any in a long time, but when I was buying them, those pen-and-ink type inks were pretty inexpensive, too. Not like alcohol inks today; those are pricey!

Edited to add: Just went and looked up prices. Not so super-cheap any more!
