I have made myself a pair of crazypants. I bought a pattern for a big pair of comfy pants from a site called George and Ginger. I had a piece of 1970s paisley acetate in my stash and decided to use it for what was essentially a toile before cutting into the chambray I intended to use. But they fit beautifully on the first try (well, actually when I cut the next pair I will make them a bit longer so the rather fiddly cuff I did on these need not be repeated) so now I have a pair of crazy lime green paisley pants, and i kinda love them. They are pretty imperfect, but I think not in obvious ways, and they are fully finished with French seams and everything, so I’m fairly pleased.
I did have to scrounge my stash for the white piping, and in piecing two lengths together accidentally dipped them in my coffee, but no one will notice that unless they are for some reason quite taken with my ankles. The acetate is a bear for staying pressed, so the seams are ever so slightly wavy but the nature of the wide leg and gathered waist masks that somewhat.
The George and Ginger pattern is quite nice and very size inclusive, but I did have a problem whereby I tried to open the instructions PDF, and it wouldn’t finish loading, and then I got a message that I had met my download limit. I emailed but received no response, but I am an experienced enough sewist to do without them.
Very neat-o shape & fabric, look great paired with the shock of hot pink too - excellent styling. Bit annoying not being able to download instructions, hopefully they fix that.
Do they have pockets?
The pattern comes with pockets but I didn’t add them to these because I simply did not have the wherewithall to do pockets on French seams while also not being 100% sure they were a) going to fit and b) that I was assembling them correctly. I do already miss them, though. Lol
The first project I ever posted on the website that was was a pair of pale green pants with nobody inside them. My kid outgrew a pair of pale green 18mo pants right before my sister turned 25, so I made her a sculpture out of them. I was so proud of it, it was creepy AF. Lol
What a great idea, I have 7 saris in my craft closet. They were all donated to Goodwill at the same time, and I picked them up for $5 each, and I have only set up a project for one of them.
