The long term care unit at my local hospital is having a plant sale to raise money for their resident activity fund, so I made some crochet plants for those who have enough real plants (or have trouble keeping them alive!).
I used an F hook (3.75 mm) for both patterns. The green yarn is Lion Brand Pound of Love in Olive, and the red, pink, and brown are vintage acrylic yarns. Theyโre all stuffed with polyester fiberfill and the succulents have cardboard circles in the bottoms of the pots to keep them flat.
I enjoyed making these! The succulents were slightly more fun - they worked up quickly and I like the way the leaves are made.
They look great, and this is such an amazing and sweet thing for you to do. As someone without a green thumb, I think this is a great way to let those people contribute, too!
What an awesome idea! I especially like the one that twists. How did you find out about the plant sale? I would love to donate a bunch of my plants to somewhere here. I have too many that I feel โmehโ about. I want to feel excited about my plants!
Thanks! Someone made a post about the sale in our local plant swap & sales facebook group.
Maybe nursing homes / assisted living facilities could use plants? Long term care at the hospital usually has windowsills covered with plants when they share pictures. Others usually have small gardens, but Iโm not sure about inside plants.
These are fabulous! I especially like the spiral cacti. And, what a great idea to donate them to the plant sale for people who donโt want to take care of a living plant!
