I saw this fabric collection from Dear Stella called Boo! and fell madly in love with it. It was Halloween without being so in your face Halloween. Plus, I am not a huge fan of bright orange, which a lot of Halloween quilts have.
The lime green and coral colors are great. I also LOVE the skull in the display and all the designs of the fabric.
I asked my Mom for the fabric bundle for my birthday, which is in November, after Halloween. She got it for me, and my goal was to have the quilt done by the next Halloween, which did not happen. I was so nervous that I would mess it up.
This year, I decided it was going to happen, and it did! Did I mess up, you bet’cha! I know quilts are supposed just to be cut, but I will admit I fussy cut the ghost. I just couldn’t chop them up. I did one so it would look less like I was a fussy cutting maniac. ha! Do the many, many mistakes make me love the quilt any less? No way! I actually love it more. It’s given me so much confidence to just do it. Even if it isn’t perfect, that’s okay.
I am not striving for perfection. I am crafting for the joy of creating, and that is what happened. I loved it so much. This is now slung across the back of my big comfy chair and makes me happy every day!
Here is a pic of my darling wobble kitty, 'Lil Tipsy, enjoying the quilt. She is hard to get a pic of because her head shakes so much.
This is my new favorite quilt ever. That fabric is gorgeous and so perfectly you! I had to zoom in to admire each of the panels. You did a lovely job and your quilt model is the cutest.
Awe. Thank you so much @Tapestry ! That made my day!
Thank you @MistressJennie for so much inspiration
& thanks @wittychild. I am so excited to craft/quilt now that I have given up some of that pressure.
It’s beautiful! Great job! I love that it isn’t bright orange too.

Finally , but worth the wait!
I feel like a proud momma watching your journey to get this quilt done! You did it!
I love that you also embraced the fact that creating doesn’t mean perfect…it is the process that takes you to another space and in the end, brings you joy for the sheer pleasure of making! Yay, you!!! Just so proud and happy that you got it done and it is beautiful in your home with your cat family!
@AIMR The journey was a long one. LOL! I had a lot of fun and such a rush when it was finally done.
@MamaRhi I love Halloween and spooky type stuff, but that glaring orange can ruin it for me sometimes. I do love burnt orange and coral, so I am sticking with those. They feel more sophisticated when I have a Halloween quilt out in July.
AMAZING!! I know how intimidating this was for you- but it’s PHENOMENAL!! Colors are perfect, fussy cut ghosts are perfect… I’m not a quilt expert by any means, but this looks flawless to me! The fact that you love it so much just makes it even better!
Congratulations on this finish! It’s a really cute quilt! The pattern really works for those prints and the colorway makes it seem perfectly suited to year-round spooky and not just Halloween.
Thanks @Bunny1kenobi I couldn’t let the ghosts get cut in half. LOL! The fussy cutter in me struggled with it before I decided it was for me, and I could do whatever I wanted.
Year-round spookiness was the goal. Thanks @TheMistressT
Forgot to mention that I used glow in the dark thread to quilt it!
What a great accomplishment!! You definitely made the right choice on fussy cutting the ghost. Personally, I’d rather buy a little extra fabric and fussy cut the elements than cut up the fabric without thought. The way I figure it, if you’re buying a fabric because you love the design, it just makes sense to showcase that design. I really like how this pattern gives you the option to do exactly that and how you took advantage of it. There’s so much to see and enjoy about this quilt!
I am crafting for the joy of creating - THIS! This is what it’s all about and I’m so glad you experienced that joy while making your quilt. I can’t wait to see your next creation!
Great job! And, I love how it’s not screaming Halloween so you can use it year round. Lovely kitty model, too. And, as someone with seam matching anxiety, I appreciate how each row is offset, so even with little errors, it’s not going to be obvious
what a fantastic quilt! well done!
I like the streamlined effect (sometimes quilts seem to be too much for my eye to take in, but this one is perfect!)
your kitty looks so content to be resting on it (pretty kitty cat!)
